| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Eric Carle. Now even younger children can follow the little green caterpillar as he eats his way to becoming a beautiful butterfly in this sturdy board book. Trim size 5.06" x 7.02".
Amazon.com Review "In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf." So begins Eric Carle's modern classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. More than 12 million copies of this book have been sold in its original, full-sized edition, and the beloved tale of science and gluttony has been translated into 20 languages. This five-by-four-inch miniature edition is truly tiny, with tiny type, but it is a nice size for small hands to hold and flip through the pictures. Despite its diminished state, the book is complete in every detail, following the ravenous caterpillar's path as he eats his way through one apple (and the pages of the book itself) on Monday, two pears on Tuesday, three plums on Wednesday, and so on, through cherry pie and sausage--until he is really fat and has a stomachache. And no doubt you know what happens next! Kids love butterfly metamorphosis stories, and this popular favorite teaches counting and the days of the week, too. A fun gift package for caterpillar fans. Board Book PERFECT Option for Babies July 13, 2010 Jarucia Jaycox Nirula (Seattle, WA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a perennial staple in the children's books collection I've amassed over the years.
When my son started showing interest in being read-to, I pulled out my trusty old, paperback version of this book.
BIG NO NO with a teething baby.
Our local children's librarian said that it's a great idea to allow babies to explore 'reading' with all senses, including mouth.
As my little guy liked the imagery enough to eat, I opted for the board version of this book and am VERY pleased with it...so is my baby's hungry little mouth :)
Great Book - long wait July 9, 2010 Bella33 I ordered this book as a baby shower gift. I ordered it exactly 10 business days prior to the shower. My book came in 1.5 weeks later. I had to buy a different book at Borders for the shower. This book is great, however - just not getting it almost a month after it is ordered.
Pop-up caution June 17, 2010 Sofia Celic (Seattle, WA, USA) I love this book. I remember it from my childhood and want it for my child. I ordered the pop-up edition and found the pop-up components were already damaged upon delivery. I think some of the pop-ups in this version would not last long with children handling it. I have returned the product and will look for the sturdy board book version with holes.
Best edition of this story and lots of fun for kids June 10, 2010 Tazzie (CALIFORNIA) I love this edition of the classic story. The book is very well made and easy for my three-year-old to manipulate. The pics are wonderful. Some of the reviews for this book were negative but inacurate. They were not rating the book but instead the service due to they never recieved the book. Others said it was small but unfortunatelly they purchased a miniature edition. This edition, however, is full sized and wonderful.
spanish edition La oruga muy hambriente May 24, 2010 MARGO ARROYO (USA) I purchased several copies of this book to use as raffle prizes at my preschool's annual Fair. The parents who won the book, loved it! A classic; simple, entertaining book that teaches the young child basic concepts in a fun way.
