Product Description Horton Hears a Who!, the classic by Dr. Seuss, 1954. Hardcover book with about 30 pages (not numbered), published by Random House.
Amazon.com Review Surely among the most lovable of all Dr. Seuss creations, Horton the Elephant represents kindness, trustworthiness, and perseverance--all wrapped up, thank goodness, in a comical and even absurd package. Horton hears a cry for help from a speck of dust, and spends much of the book trying to protect the infinitesimal creatures who live on it from the derision and trickery of other animals, who think their elephant friend has gone quite nutty. But worse is in store: an eagle carries away the clover in which Horton has placed the life-bearing speck, and "let that small clover drop somewhere inside / of a great patch of clovers a hundred miles wide!" Horton wins in the end, after persuading the "Who's" to make as much noise as possible and prove their existence. This classic is not only fun, but a great way to introduce thoughtful children to essentially philosophical questions. How, after all, are we so sure there aren't invisible civilizations floating by on every mote? (Ages 4 to 8) --Richard Farr

. April 25, 2010 Ulyyf (NYC) I think we all know by now "A person's a person, no matter how small!"
Horton, the hero, runs around trying to save the little whos while everybody else, of course, derides him and even tries to harm the clover for no reason other than that they don't understand.
There is a happy ending, and most children old enough to sit through it will enjoy it. As an adult, though, one thing keeps running through my mind, and that's the fact that the whos were in no danger at all UNTIL Horton decided to "save" them! I keep this thought to myself when reading to the nieces, though. I'm not sure they'd appreciate it :)
One of the all-time great children's books July 31, 2009 Paul Gehrman (San Francisco, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Horton Hears a Who is one of the best children's books ever written. It has everything - entertaining, fun writing, a memorable main character, good illustrations, and a good message. A few people have said that this story has an anti-abortion theme. I admit that this thought also came to my mind; however, I think this is irrelevant regardless of your views on this issue. Children surely will have no concept of this. They'll simply understand that Horton trusted his own mind and stood up for the "little" people despite the obstacles and nay-sayers in his path. What a wonderful message for kids!
Horton Hears A Who by Dr. Seuss March 22, 2009 Therese B. Wood (Northwest, Florida USA) I needed the book fairly quickly and received it in a timely manner. I had no problems searching or ordering the book. I teach preschool and I am able to find books and other resources on Amazon. The fact that there is no shipping and handling makes it more appealing to me as I don't always have the extra funds. I recommend using Amazon for your on-line shopping.

Horton Hears a Who? November 30, 2008 Sally Our school did the musical Seussical this year, I bought all the books for the directors and some of the cast members. They did an awsome job and had alot of fun. Some of the kids are sad that it is all done. Thank-you for sending the books so fast. Amazon is the perfect place to shop when you are looking for hard to find or older books.
Thanks again
Sally
Who Can Beat A Classic! September 20, 2008 S. Wallin (Oswego, IL) I purchased this book for my grandson who is just beginning to read. This Dr. Seuss book has become a classic. It's whimsical story line will quickly grab the attention and interest of any child. It's impossible to improve on great literature like this! I highly recommend it.
